Dr. Arciniegas is the Beth K. and Stuart C. Yudofsky Chair in Brain Injury Medicine, Director of the Beth K. and Stuart C. Yudofsky Division of Neuropsychiatry, and Professor of Psychiatry, Neurology, and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the Baylor College of Medicine. He also serves as Senior Scientist and Medical Director for Brain Injury Research at TIRR Memorial Hermann. Over the last 20 years, his clinical work and patient-oriented research has focused on the phenomenology, neurobiology, and rehabilitation of the cognitive and non-cognitive neuropsychiatric sequelae of traumatic brain injury (TBI), stroke, and neurodegenerative disorders. As an educator, his efforts focus on training subspecialists in behavioral neurology & neuropsychiatry as well as brain injury medicine. He has been continuously funded since 1996 as an investigator on more than 35 extramurally-funded studies. He has authored more than 110 peer-reviewed journal articles, 120 peer-reviewed abstracts, 30 book chapters, has edited five textbooks, and is a highly sought lecturer nationally and internationally. He serves as Editor of The Journal of Neuropsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences, Associate Editor of the Journal of Head Trauma Rehabilitation, and is a member of the editorial boards of Brain Injury, the International NeuroTrauma Letter, and Journal of Neurotrauma. In addition to his academic duties, Dr. Arciniegas serves as Chairman and CEO of the International Brain Injury Association and contributes his efforts to governmental and non-governmental organizations striving to improve the lives of persons and families affected by brain injuries.
