Biography

Dr. Michael Ellis completed his Honors Bachelor of Science (Psychology), Bachelor of Science (Medicine) and medical school training at the University of Manitoba. He then completed Neurosurgical Residency Training in Toronto, including a Fellowship in Concussion Spectrum Disorders with world-recognized concussion expert, Dr. Charles Tator.

Dr. Ellis is the Medical Director of the Pan Am Concussion Program and holds clinical appointments in the Department of Surgery and Pediatrics, Section of Neurosurgery at the University of Manitoba. He is the Co-Director of the Canada North Concussion Network and holds a scientist appointment in the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba.

In addition to his clinical and research work, Dr. Ellis serves as the Co-Chair of the Expert Advisory Committee on Concussion for Parachute Canada, an organization responsible for national concussion awareness and knowledge translation, and was recently appointed by the federal government to develop national harmonized Return-to-Play protocols for all of youth sports in Canada.
