Biography

Louise C. Keegan, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, is currently an Assistant Professor in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department at Appalachian State University where she also serves as Undergraduate Program Director. Louise received her clinical Speech-Language Therapy degree from University College Cork, Ireland and completed her doctorate in Applied Language & Speech Sciences at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Her primary research focuses on identifying the linguistic skills of individuals with cognitive communication disorders after traumatic brain injury. She employs various linguistic analysis methods to investigate the communication strengths and skills of this population. As a licensed Speech Language Pathologist in North Carolina, she provides Speech Language Pathology services to those in the region with traumatic brain injury and thus, her research also examines optimal treatment approaches for these cognitive communication difficulties. Louise has a number of publications in this area, has received funding from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and has presented her work at a great many national and international conferences.
